The South Street Magic Garden

Philadelphia's South Street buildings glitter in the sunlight from mosaics on many building sides created by Isaiah Zagar




















Isaiah uses many different materials in his mosaics, including found bottles, tiles, and sometimes tea cups and saucers


















There are special messages painted into some mosaics relating to art and sometimes politics













This is all you can see of the magic garden through an iron gate, open only on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer














An article wired to the gate explains the story of the South Street Magic Garden and the possibility of its destruction if Isaiah is not able to raise enough money to purchase the plot of land
















Behind the gates also sits the garbage can where passers-by can drop spare change or a few dollars to help save the South Street Magic Garden from being destroyed
